DARREN TOBY, RYAN HALL EARN LEAGUE HONORS

Utica, N.Y. – The Major Arena Soccer League announced today that Utica City F.C. defender Darren Toby was named to the 1st Team All-MASL as well as a nominee for Defender of the Year. The league also announced that Utica City Head Coach Ryan Hall was named a finalist for the MASL’s Coach of the Year Award.

Toby, 37, finished the year with a career-high eight goals and ten assists in 23 games with Utica City. He also led the team in blocked shots with 37, finishing fourth in the league overall. The veteran defender chipped in with one assist and six blocked shots in three games in the playoffs.

The veteran defender is the third Utica City player to receive league honors this week, joining Slavisa Ubiparipovic (3rd Team All-MASL) and Jake Schindler (All-MASL Honorable Mention).

Hall led Utica City F.C. to a 17-7 regular season record and an Eastern Division Regular Season Championship in his first year at the helm. He was named Coach of the Month for the month of December for helping lead Utica to a white-hot 5-1 start. Furthermore, Hall played a big hand in ending Baltimore’s 18-game home winning streak in February.

The award winners will be announced during a press conference tomorrow, Saturday, May 4.
