UTICA, NY - The Major Arena Soccer League announced Wednesday that Gordy Gurson was named Player of the Week following his staggering six points in two games (3G, 3A) at home on January 7th and 8th against Mesquite and Empire. 

Gurson delivered an astounding performance against the best-in-the-West Mesquite Outlaws, netting a hat trick and an assist. he capped off the evening by electrifying the Adirondack Bank Center with his overtime winner to seal a 9-8 win for UCFC. Gurson currently leads the league in points and the team in assists and PPG. He is also tied for the team lead in assists, is third in the league in points, and is tied for the league-lead in game winning goals.

Upon hearing the news, Gurson said, "I want to thank my teammates, the entire Utica City FC organization, and  the city of Utica for believing in me. I am truly happy here and excited to see where the rest of the season takes us." 

Coach Hewerton Moreira echoed the praise, “Gordy has been outstanding to start the season. He is one of the leaders in our locker room and on the field, is constantly striving to be better, and has an innate ability to find the back of the net. Gordy is very deserving of being named as Player of the Week and we are excited for him to be recognized for his hard work.”
