JELOVAC LEADS UTICA TO VICTORY IN MISSISSAUGA
MISSISSAUGA, Ont. – Bo Jelovac filed a "captain's performance" north of the border with a second consecutive hat trick and added an assist in an 8-4 win over the Mississauga MetroStars Friday night at the Paramount Fine Foods Centre.
Utica City has extended their win streak to four consecutive games for the first time in franchise history.
Following the MetroStars opening goal, Jelovac's right-footed curler quickly evened the score at 1. The tally was the 15th of the year for the Utica City captain. After Ben Ramin tallied a goal of his own to give Utica a 2-1 lead, the 6’3” Serbian added another goal to his impressive scoring record for his second of the night. Jelovac pounced on Lucio Gonzaga's rebound to add to UCFC's lead ending the half 3-1.
City outshot the MetroStars 15-8 in the first half.
Liam Callahan scored the fourth on the evening for City to start the second half. The midfielder's 10th of the season gave Utica a 4-1 lead before Mississauga rallied with two goals to close the third quarter.
City put the game out of reach with three goals to open the final frame. Joey Tavernese scored his 17th of the season from a set piece to restore City's two-goal at 5-3. Jelovac and Logan Roberts followed with quick strikes to ensure Utica would leave the Paramount Fine Foods Centre with the victory.
Utica City returns to action on Sunday against the Baltimore Blast. City broke Baltimore's 18-game home win streak in their last visit to the SECU Arena.
