LATE PUSH NOT ENOUGH, BALTIMORE BEATS UTICA CITY

Baltimore, MD – Utica City FC capped off their weekend against the Baltimore Blast Sunday afternoon. Baltimore gained a 3-1 in the first quarter, and despite a few late pushes from Utica City prevailed 8-3. UCFC fell to 4-12 with the loss.

Neither team would score in the first six minutes, and then the game would see three goals in the next two minutes of play. Lucas Roque started the scoring and put Baltimore up 1-0. A minute later, Timmy Goldman got it off the wall from Logan Roberts and patiently dropped the ball back for Nate Bourdeau who rang the bell. UCFC tied the game at one. Thirty seconds after that goal, Baltimore’s Adriano Dos Santos made it a 2-1 game.

At 9:55 of the 1st, Tony Donatelli got his second point but his first goal of the day. That put Baltimore up 3-1 at the end of the quarter.

Both teams had good looks in the second, but neither team would score. At halftime, Baltimore retained a two goal lead.

Five minutes into the third quarter, Oswald Annang scored for Baltimore it was the first goal in over 30 minutes of game play. Baltimore led 4-1. As the 3rd quarter winded down, Goldman’s diving header found the foot of Joey Tavernese and UCFC cut the lead to two.

In the fourth, Jonatas Melo tallied his first of the day and gave Baltimore some breathing room. They led 5-2 with 10 minutes left. UCFC drew up a perfect set piece as Cristhian Segura dished it over to Tavernese who tucked his second of the day.

Baltimore got the dagger on a give and go to Lucas Roque who made it 6-3 in the final minutes. They would add two more as UCFC had an extra attacker, and sealed an 8-3 win.

With the loss, UCFC fell to 4-12 on the year. Utica City returns home to play Harrisburg on Sunday, March 6th at 2 P.M. at the Adirondack Bank Center. Fans in the Miller Lite Biergarten will receive UCFC tote bags with their ticket. Tickets are available at uticacityfc.com/tickets.
