TED LASSO DAY BRINGS FURY TO UTICA

QUICK LOOK: Utica City FC (2-6) hosts the Ontario Fury (4-3) on Ted Lasso Day at the Adirondack Bank Center. This is the first meeting between the two teams. Ontario is coming off of a win over Baltimore, while Utica City has lost four games in a row.

HEWERTON RETURNS: Utica City FC announced the signing of Hewerton Moreria on Thursday. Hewerton has enjoyed a 15-season career as a player, appearing in 296 games and posting 196 goals and 170 assists. He played for the seven indoor soccer teams including for the Wave. He won three league championships during his seven years with the Wave. Hewerton made his Utica City debut in Milwaukee on Friday. 

LAST TIME OUT: Utica City FC visited the Milwaukee Wave on Friday night and battled through the final seconds. Milwaukee won the game in the final 8 seconds with a game winning goal, and ended a 7-6 win. In the fourth, Utica City would score their final goal. Moises Gonzalez elevated in the box and kicked home the goal to give UCFC a 6-5 lead. Milwaukee would later tie the game with another goal from Bennett with six attackers. With 8 seconds remaining, Derek Huffman smoked a ball to the top right corner of the cage and sealed the 7-6 win for the Wave.

 HERE COME THE FURY: Ontario makes the 2,960 mile trip across the country to battle Utica today. This is part of a two game road trip for the Fury, as they played Baltimore on Friday night. They dominated the Baltimore Blast Friday with a 10-4 win. Ontario scored five goals in the 2nd quarter to jump out to a 5-2 lead and never looked back. Justin Stinson had 4 goals and an assist, while Frank Tayou had 3 goals. The two of them are Ontario’s leaders entering Sunday’s game. Tayou has 14 points, while Stinson is right behind him with 13. Each of them now have seven goals on the season.
