UCFC Falls 6-2 to End Road Trip
Lakeland, FL – After falling last week in Lakeland, Utica City FC looked to get back in the win column against the Florida Tropics on Sunday afternoon. The teams were knotted up at two at halftime, but UCFC fell 6-2 to round out the road trip.
Florida picked up right where they left off last week, with a goal in the first minute of the game. Victor Parrerias scored 41 seconds in. Moises Gonzalez answered for Utica City with under two minutes to go in the first quarter. He darted in from the wall, found space in the box and buried his 5th goal of the season.
The Tropics got the first goal of the 2nd, as Parrerias scored on a powerplay tally with 6:33 left in the period. It was Florida’s 4th powerplay goal of the year on their 13th attempt. UCFC answered on a great pass from Joey Tavernese to Bo Jelovac for a tap in goal to tie the game at two as the second half came to an end.
Drew Ruggles gave Florida another lead at 6:50 of the 3rd thanks to an assist by Richard Carvalho. Florida would go on a run from there. They added three goals in the 4th quarter. One from Ben-Avir Espinal, and two from Bruno Henrique.
UCFC lost their second game in a row for the second time this season, and fell to 2-4 on the year.
Utica City will return home a week from today on Sunday, January 16th against the Baltimore Blast. Tickets are available at uticacityfc.com/tickets.
