UTICA CITY BEGINS TWO GAME SET IN MEXICO

Tonight’s Game: Utica City FC heads south of the border to take on the Soles de Sonora for the first time ever. Kickoff is at 10 p.m. EST.

Last Game: Utica City FC got a hat trick from Cristhian Segura as they rolled to a 7-2 win over the Rochester Lancers Sunday afternoon at the Adirondack Bank Center. Momo scored two goals and Jake Schindler Moises Gonzalez also scored for Utica, while Andrew Coughlin made 10 saves on 12 shots to help the team to their seventh straight victory. 

Head to Head: This is the first ever meeting between Utica and Sonora. They two will meet again tomorrow night as well. 

Scouting the Soles: Sonora comes in with a record of 9-10 and sits in fourth place in the Western Division. They most recently fell to the Florida Tropics 8-6 last Saturday. Enrique Cañez leads the offense with 40 points, followed by Gustavo Rosales with 25 points. Alejandro Gallardo is the top goalkeeper with a record of 6-4, a 5.86 goals-against average, and a .657 goals-against average. 

Segura, Segura: Cristhian Segura continues to score at a torrid pace. Segura has recorded back-to-back hat tricks and has eight points (6-2-8) in his last two games. He also has 10 points (7-3-10) in his last four games and has posted eight multi-point games this season. The midfielder leads the team with 31 points (22-9-31) in 15 games this season.  

Heating Up: Onua Obasi is heating up on offense lately. Obasi tallied four assists in Sunday’s win over Rochester and has five points (1-4-5) in his last three games. The defender has 10 points (4-6-10) in 14 games.

Bo-Nanaza: Bo Jelovac has been surging over the last few games. Jelovac picked up an assist on Sunday to run his point streak to five games. He has tallied 13 points (7-6-13) during his streak and has 21 points (10-11-21) in the past eight games. The captain has 30 points (16-17-30) in 16 games this year. 

Mr. Stretch: Andrew Coughlin has been lights out in goal this season. Coughlin has won six straight games he has played in, making 10 or more saves in four of those six games. Additionally, he ranks second in the league in goals-against average and third in save percentage and wins. The keeper is 12-1-1 this season with a 3.96 goals-against average and a .726 save percentage.

Familiar Faces: Ricardo Diegues looks to make his return to the UCFC roster in this out-of-country contest. The forward has 20 points (15-5-20) in a blue jersey this year including a four-goal night in Baltimore. Diego Zuniga, who spent preseason in Utica but was ineligible to play will make his Utica debut in Sonora. The curly-haired forward recorded 24 points (22-2) points for the Rio Grande Valley Barracudas last season.
