UTICA CITY FC SIGNS ROBERTS AND KENAWY

Utica, N.Y. - Utica City FC announced a double signing today with Mohamed Kenawy and Logan Roberts penning deals for the upcoming 2018-19 MASL season. Per team and league policies, terms of the agreements were not disclosed.

Kenawy, a 5’9’’, 160-pound attacking midfielder, played college soccer at UMass Boston before he embarked on a professional soccer career. Still only 21 years of age, Kenawy has already been recognized as one of the Elite MASL rookie players. Last season, he made an immediate impact playing for the Cedar Rapids Rampage which led him to an All-Rookie Honorable Mention.

In addition to his MASL accomplishments, Kenawy, who grew up in Revere, MA, has represented the Men’s U.S. National Futsal team on the world stage. Speaking specifically about the attacking skill and creativity he brings to UCFC General Manager Tommy Tanner, clearly identified the focus with Kenawy this season:

“Mohamed brings the ability to beat players one-on-one which will undoubtedly create space and numerous opportunities for him and his teammates. From the moment I saw him, I could tell he is going to be a special player in this league.”

Logan Roberts, is a 24-year-old who brings added pace and strength to the Utica City FC defense. A former member of the Binghamton University Mens soccer team, the 6’2’’, 170-pound defender gained significant experience last season in the MASL where he established himself as a key defender in the league.

Utica City Head Coach, Ryan Hall, was determined to bring Roberts into his squad for the 2018-19 season after seeing the player’s influence not only in the defensive department but also from the attacking perspective:

“Logan showed a tremendous amount of poise and potential during the MASL playoffs last season. He is a very dynamic defender who has the ability to be a very dangerous offensive threat to our opponents, especially when driving out of the back. Last year was only his first season playing in the MASL, so I am excited to see what the 2018-19 campaign has in store for him.”
