UTICA CITY HEADS NORTH TO BATTLE MISSISSAUGA

Tonight's Game: The Utica City FC looks to rebound after last weekend’s loss to the Milwaukee wave as they head north to battle the Mississauga MetroStars for the first time this season.

Last Game: Utica City fell to the Milwaukee Wave 4-7. Despite Liam Callahan scoring the game’s first goal, the City could not respond to the Wave’s four unanswered goals.

Head-to-Head: This will be the first of six matchups between these two teams this season. Both teams are playing in their inaugural season.

Scouting the MetroStars: The MetroStars are currently 2-5 and are third in the Eastern Division. Nine players have two or more goals and two players have double digits in the points column. Multiple goalies have played for the team compiling for the 2-5 record. They average 5.7 goals per game.

Still Standing on Top: Despite the loss on Sunday, Utica City is still the top team in the Eastern Division with a record of 5-2. City has 48 goals and 36 goals against them so far this season.

Defensive Powerhouse: Five different defensive Utica City players have scored at least one goal or more this season. Of those five players, four have multiple assists on the season. Ben Ramin and Darren Toby each have eight shots blocked on the season, a team leading statistic. This puts these two players in second place in the MASL statistics.

Scoring Duo: Joey Tavernese and Slavisa Ubiparipovic are tied for third in the MASL for assists with seven each. While the team will be without Mauricio Salles and Bo Jelovac look to this pairing to find the back of the net.

Next Game: Utica City returns home to take on the Harrisburg Heat on Sunday January 13 at 2 p.m. Captain Bo Jelovac will be hosting a special kid’s day on the turf after the game with mascots, autographs and more.
