UTICA CITY NAMES CASEY MURPHY AS ASSISTANT COACH

Utica, N.Y. – Utica City FC General Manager Tommy Tanner announced today that the club has named Casey Murphy as an assistant coach for the 2019-20 season.

Murphy, 26, has spent the last four seasons as an assistant coach at Onondaga Community College, where he helped lead the Lazers to a 33-9 record and two conference championships.

The Baldwinsville, N.Y. native played collegiately at LeMoyne College in Syracuse, where he played in 33 career games, scoring 13 goals and tallying four assists. As a standout he was named to the All-Freshman team as well as 2nd Team All-Conference and 3rd Team All Region as a sophomore.

“Casey will bring a fresh and new look to our coaching staff,” said Tanner. “He will complement Ryan and give Ryan the ability to focus on the many nuances of the indoor game that are required to be successful as a team.”

Utica City hosts an exhibition match against Canada this Sunday, November 17 at the Adirondack Bank Center. Tickets are free for season ticket members and $5 for the general public. The squad opens the 2019-20 season on the road against division rivals, the Baltimore Blast before returning home for a rematch on the blue turf Sunday, November 24.
