UTICA CITY SIGNS ALENCAR VENTURA JUNIOR

Utica, N.Y. – Utica City FC General Manager Tommy Tanner announced today that the club has signed forward Alencar Ventura Junior. Per team and league policies, the terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Junior most recently appeared for the Western Mass Pioneers in USL League Two, playing in three games over the last three seasons, scoring two goals and three assists. He also has indoor experience, playing in two games split between the Turlock Express and Cedar Rapids Rampage, tallying three points (2-1-3).

“We are very excited to be able to sign Junior right at the trade deadline,” Tanner stated. “Junior will give us versatility both in the back and at forward. He has a wealth of Futsal experience winning five national championships with Safira and has played the indoor game as well. We welcome Junior to the City!”

A native of Brazil, he also collected 10 goals in 11 games for the now-defunct Worcester Hydra in 2012, earning league honors at the end of the season. In 2013, he tallied nine times in six games for the Western Mass Pioneers and netted 19 goals in 17 games in 2015. He also helped Southeastern New England Super Liga side AC Blaugrana (R.I.) clinch the league cup.

Junior also has extensive futsal experience, playing with Safira FC in central Massachusetts, helping the team win nine regional championships along with five national titles.
