UTICA CITY SIGNS TRIO AHEAD OF SEASON OPENER

Utica, N.Y. – Utica City FC General Manager Tommy Tanner announced today that the team has signed Domenico Vitale, Vittorio Petrera and Tim Goldman. Per team and league policies, the terms of the agreements were not disclosed.

Goldman, a native of Manlius, N.Y., joins the team as a rookie in the MASL. He attended Ithaca College from 2011-13, where he appeared in 28 career games, recording seven goals and three assists. earning Honorable Mention All-Empire 8 as a freshman and First Team All-Empire 8 as a sophomore. He transferred to NYU in 2014, recording two goals and three assists in 13 games. Goldman currently is an assistant coach of the Liverpool High School boys’ soccer team.

Petrera, 37, suited up in 18 games with Utica last year, scoring one goal and blocking two shots. Petrera has appeared on and off for the Syracuse Silver Knights throughout his career. His best season with Syracuse came during the 2015-16 campaign. Petrera recorded three goals and three assists during that season. He featured for local Bishop Ludden during high school and played in college at Mohawk Valley Community College.

Vitale, 30, played in 17 games with Utica City last season, tallying five points (3-2-5) and 16 blocked shots. He has played in 114 career games in the MASL, scoring 20 goals and recording 15 points. The 5’11” defender has played with the Syracuse Silver Knights since 2013. He was the team’s Rookie of the Year in his first season and won the Silver Knights Unsung Hero award the next. Vitale also received the team’s defensive player of the year honors for the 2016-17 season.
