UTICA CITY WINS IN COME FROM BEHIND BATTLE
Utica N.Y. – Utica City FC battled through a 3-0 deficit against Harrisburg to earn a 5-4 win thanks to Moises Gonzalez’s goal with 20 seconds remaining in the 4th quarter. UCFC moves to 1-2 with another matchup with Harrisburg tomorrow night.
With Brian Wilkin getting his first start for Utica City FC, Harrisburg got to him early. They started the scoring at 1:22 of the first period with Michael Cunningham’s first of two goals. David Mellor added a tally at 6:41 of the first and Harrisburg led 2-0.
They would extend the lead to three with Cunningham’s second of the night early in the second. Utica City answered with 7 seconds left in the first half. Bo Jelovac got his first of the year with an assist to Christian Segura.
In the 3rd quarter, Harrisburg started the scoring. Matt Braem made it 4-1 Heat at 3:24. From there, Utica City Caught Fire.
Two powerplay goals in the third quarter from Christian Segura and Moises Gonzalez cut the lead down to one. At 1:34 of the 4th, Logan Roberts tied the game. Thanks to a Dominic Francis tripping penalty with a minute left, UCFC got a huge powerplay chance. Moises Gonzalez capitalized with 20 seconds left, and UCFC trotted away with a 5-4 win at home.
Brian Wilkin was the man of the match, with four goals against on 26 shots from Harrisburg. Utica City poured on 46 shots in the game. Utica City’s three powerplay goals was the most they have had all season.
Tomorrow UCFC hits the road for Harrisburg and meet the Heat again at 7:05 P.M. They return home on December 26th at 2pm against the Baltimore Blast. Tickets are available at uticacityfc.com/tickets.
