UTICA RETURNS HOME TO TAKE ON ORLANDO

Today’s Game: Utica City FC heads home to take on the Orlando SeaWolves for the first time this season. Kickoff at the Adirondack Bank Center is at 2 p.m.

Last Game: he Harrisburg Heat defeated Utica City FC 7-4 on Friday night at the PA Farm Show Arena. Freddy Moojen, Jake Schindler, Bo Jelovac, and Darren Toby scored for Utica. Andrew Coughlin made 12 saves in goal.

Head-to-Head: This is the first matchup between Utica and Orlando this season. The two teams will meet again in the final game of the season in Orlando on April 12.

Scouting the SeaWolves: Orlando comes in with a record of 3-4 and sits in fourth place in the South Central Division. The SeaWolves dropped a 7-6 decision to the St. Louis Ambush Friday night. Gordy Gurson is the team’s leading scorer with 18 points, following by Osvaldo Rojas with 13 points. Rainer Hauss is the top goalkeeper with a record of 3-3, a 5.72 goals-against average, and a .645 save percentage.

Special Teams Battle: Special teams will likely play a big factor in today’s contest. Orlando comes in with the league’s third-best power play going up against Utica’s 10th ranked penalty kill. On the flip side, City’s power play ranks sixth in the MASL and has scored at least one power play goal in five of their last eight games, while the SeaWolves have killed off 10 of their 17 penalties this season.

Get Freddy: Freddy Moojen will be making his Adirondack Bank Center debut this afternoon. He acquainted himself with the team nicely Friday night, putting up two points against Harrisburg. He has 11 points (6-5-11) in seven total games this season.

Home Cookin’: Utica City has been extremely hard to beat at home this season. Utica has allowed more than five goals only once and is outscoring opponents 39-26 on their home field. City is 5-1 at the Adirondack Bank Center this season.

Leading By Example: Bo Jelovac has been on a roll offensively. Jelovac is riding a three-game point streak and has five points (2-3-5) in his last three games and six points (3-3-6) in his last five games. The captain is third on the team in scoring with 14 points (8-6-14) in 11 games year.
